The Departed is really good! Definitely. It's more of genre crime movie for Scorsese than his more recent Oscar-baiting fare.
The Black Dahlia is also really good, but you probably need to be able to appreciate the 40s Noir-style they're evoking. If you liked L.A. Confidential you might like this, although this is more woven into the genre style.
Also, The Last Kiss is very good, but kinda depressing. Bunch of men about to turn thirty struggling with commitment.
